My Story (Warning: Involves Cats)
The Cats Made Me Do It.
They did – make me do what I’m doing now, i.e. running an online marketing business. I first entered the online world in the mid-1990s (remember dial-up modems?), and started building websites, because I wanted (needed!) a website to showcase my hobby of breeding pedigree cats.
At the time I was running a boarding cattery, having given up my original career in Clinical Biochemistry. Of course this was a long while before social media became a thing – back then we had online forums and Yahoo Lists… I set up the first one for UK cat breeders in 1998.
In 2007, my son persuaded me to join Facebook. I’d already given up on the cattery and there was no hope of getting back to my former career so I spent a few years doing nothing much. In 2011 I heard about an online course for people wanting to learn social media management, and that was the catalyst to set up my business.
Almost 8 years and 4 business awards later, here I am, having changed my business name and focus in 2018. I’ve given up breeding cats, although I’ve continued my involvement as a show judge and committee secretary – and still have 7 cats of my own. Cats rule the internet – true story!
Naomi is awesome. She has helped me create and manage my Facebook ads for the past few months and has achieved great results.
